Center for Vaccine research (CVR) is a new division housing a world-leading vaccine research and clinical program directed against major global infectious diseases and cancer, and a portfolio of novel adjuvant systems. The organization is home to advanced vaccine research and GMP facilities.
CVR has more than 100 staff members divided between research, development and animal facilities. CVR has an active translational research strategy and has successfully licensed and commercialized programs through collaboration with the industry. CVR is funded by royalties and license fees as well as supported by Horizon2020, National Institutes of Health (NIH), Innovation fund Denmark, Independent research council.
About the position
As project leader of veterinary vaccine research you will be responsible for establishing the goals and strategy and will be the daily leader for a new veterinary vaccine research group at CVR. You will receive a yearly research budget and you will be supported in applying for additional research funding. You will be in charge of setting up a forefront research group in veterinary vaccine research with an eye for a ‘One Health’ approach. A key component of the job is to identify and develop research priorities and funding opportunities, as well as developing and maintaining partnerships with key stakeholders. The project leader is expected to publish and translate novel discoveries into translational strategies.
We expect the project leader to build a research plan that exploits the core competences of CVR and the project leader should identify diseases/infections where vaccines could significantly reduce antibiotic use.
We are looking for candidates who have:
- a PhD and some years of experience
- a research background within veterinary immunology / vaccinology
- published in impactful journals showing creativity and quality
- a track record in fundraising and grant writing
- a collaborative and interdisciplinary mindset
- interest in combining basic and applied research.

Terms of employment
The employment is of 3 years duration. It is the expectation that the position will continue as a permanent position after the three years. Travelling activities are part of the job.
Salary and appointment terms will be based on the collective agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Federation of Professional Associations (AC) (overenskomst for akademikere i staten).
Depending on your academic qualifications and experience there is a possibility of being classified as a special or senior consultant according to appendix 4 “protocol concerning special- and senior consultants” (Protokollat om specialkonsulenter og chefkonsulenter).
